Guidelines for New Yoga StudentsWhat to ExpectJustine's personal teaching style is based on the principals of the British Wheel of Yoga, the governing body for yoga in the UK of which she is a member. She is also influenced by the Iyengar approach due to her practice with that school and the flowing sequences of Ashtanga. Her aim is to strike a balance between informed alignment for safety and joint longevity combined with dynamic breath-synchronised sequences for health and fitness. Various choices are given during asanas (physical postures) and each individual is invited to choose their appropriate level responsibly. Beginners classes concentrate on developing 'ahimsa' or a 'non-harming' attitude towards your body and mind through proper alignment and breath awareness during asanas. Improvers classes extend on this knowledge and include asanas (physical stretches and postures), pranayama (yogic breathing exercises), dhyrana (concentration techniques for mental agility), relaxation and some basic meditation. Health Issues, Injuries, Ailments etc. Please complete the booking and registration form detailing any health conditions you may have but also inform your teacher before each class if you have any temporary ailments/conditions such as congestion/headache, menstruation, infections etc. Be honest on your registration form!
